Advanced Narcotics Investigations Course (ANIC): Session 1 (Jan 20-24, 2025)

From January 20-24, 2025, the Advanced Narcotics Investigations Course (ANIC), Session 1, successfully trained 29 law enforcement officials, prosecutors, and judiciary magistrates in advanced techniques for combating transnational drug trafficking. Hosted by ILEA Bangkok in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), this one-week course focused on the complexities of managing and supervising high-level drug investigations.

The course provided a deep dive into specialized investigative techniques critical for addressing the challenges posed by international drug organizations. Core topics included international controlled deliveries, conspiracy investigations, and practical exercises designed to highlight the importance of international cooperation in narcotics investigations. The training emphasized the integration of management skills, operational planning, and updated laws relevant to drug enforcement, ensuring participants were equipped to handle complex cases involving multinational drug syndicates.

Participants also had the opportunity to engage in management workshops, which were tailored to strengthen supervisory and leadership capabilities in narcotics investigations. Elective topics, including managing confidential sources, undercover operations, officer survival tactics, emergency first aid, and clandestine laboratory safety, were also incorporated into the curriculum, enhancing the practical application of the training.
