From December 4-8, 2023, ILEA Bangkok and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) organized a one-week Emerging Trends in Illicit Synthetic Drugs: Session 3 . A total of 29 participants were awarded certificates for their successful completion of the course. In this training program, participants from nine subscribing countries were provided with comprehensive technical forensic knowledge regarding the latest developments in synthetic drugs and the emerging techniques employed in their illicit production across the globe. Expert instructors from the DEA shared valuable insights on various aspects, including the identification, production, analysis, and legal strategies for controlling newer drugs and their analogs. These substances encompass a range of examples, such as fentanyl, synthetic cannabinoids ("Spice"), Cathinones ("Bath Salts"), methamphetamine, Butane Honey Oil, and methaqualone.
