Emerging Trends in Illicit Synthetic Drugs: Session 4 (May 13-17, 2024)

From May 13-17, 2024, the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) collaborated with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to host Session 4 of "Emerging Trends in Illicit Synthetic Drugs." This intensive course was designed to equip 31 participants from 10 subscribing countries with up-to-date information on the latest trends in drug investigative techniques, new synthetic drugs, and emerging methods of illicit drug production encountered worldwide.

The curriculum covered a wide range of topics, including advanced investigative techniques used to combat transnational drug trafficking, the proliferation of new psychoactive drugs, and the operation of clandestine laboratories. Clandestine drug laboratories represent a growing concern globally due to their widespread presence and significant impact on communities, governments, and the environment. This training addressed the handling of precursors and the operational characteristics of such laboratories, aiming to enhance participants' understanding and preparedness in combating the evolving challenges posed by illicit synthetic drug production.
