Emerging Trends in Illicit Synthetic Drugs (ETISD) : Session 5 (Dec 2-6, 2024)

From December 2-6, 2024, ILEA Bangkok, in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), organized the one-week training course "Emerging Trends in Illicit Synthetic Drugs: Session 5. A total of 31 participants from six (6) countries received certificates upon successful completion. This specialized program provided comprehensive technical and forensic knowledge on the latest developments in synthetic drugs and emerging techniques used in their illicit production globally. Expert instructors from the DEA covered critical topics, including the identification, production, and analysis of newer synthetic drugs, as well as legal strategies for controlling these substances and their analogs. The course focused on various illicit drugs such as fentanyl, synthetic cannabinoids ("Spice"), cathinones ("Bath Salts"), methamphetamine, Butane Honey Oil, and methaqualone, equipping participants with valuable insights into combatting these growing threats.
