On September 27, 2024, ILEA Bangkok, in collaboration with the National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), successfully concluded the
five-day Fisheries Enforcement and Prosecution course: Session 4. The primary
goal of the course was to provide regional government fisheries and marine
legal and policy advisors, as well as enforcement personnel, with a solid
foundation in the legal tools necessary to effectively monitor, enforce, and
prosecute fisheries violations.
The training focused on two key areas: legal and policy issues, and
enforcement and investigative techniques. This included ship bridge and
instrument training, as well as import and landing inspections from fishing
vessels, reefers, and container ships. A total of 38 participants from Brunei,
Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam took part
in the course.
