From August 26 to 30, 2024, the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) Bangkok, alongside the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), hosted the second session of the Inter-Agency Cooperation in Financial Investigations course. This session saw the participation of 36 officials from Cambodia, Indonesia, Korea, Laos, the Philippines, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.
This course,
co-delivered by IRS-CI and DEA, focuses on improving inter-agency collaboration
to apply financial investigative techniques effectively. Participants explored
methods to track financial transactions, identify assets for confiscation, and
calculate illegal proceeds. The training is interactive, with a strong emphasis
on participant engagement through practical exercises, problem-solving, and
role plays.
Instructors facilitated discussions and applied international standards from bodies like the United Nations and the Financial Action Task Force. This approach ensures the course aligns with global practices and enhances the participants’ investigative skills.
The course benefits criminal investigators, money laundering and tax enforcement officials, government prosecutors, and members of the judiciary by providing them with advanced techniques and strategies to combat financial crimes.
