A group of 35 law enforcement officers from Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Timor-Leste recently participated in an intensive 2-week training program on International Post Blast Investigation (IPBI) hosted by ILEA Bangkok and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) in Cha-Am, Thailand.
During the training, the officers received hands-on experience in the reconstruction of various components of an explosive device through investigative techniques such as sifting. The skilled instructors from the ATF led the students through realistic bombing scenarios, with the final practical exercise involving the processing of a crime scene caused by a bomb detonation inside a vehicle. The exercises were tailored to analyze the specific duties of each team member, utilizing ATF's 100 Step method of investigation.
Overall, the training course was an unparalleled opportunity for these officers to gain practical experience and hone their skills in the field of post-blast investigations.
