ILEA Bangkok Alumni Networking Event in Jakarta, Indonesia

On September 8, 2022, ILEA Bangkok held an Alumni Networking Event in Jakarta, Indonesia.  The event provided ILEA Bangkok, its Alumni, and regional law enforcement partners in Southeast Asia with the opportunity to engage and strengthen its global alliances. Andrew Cunney (Program Director ILEA Bangkok) and Kyle Rego (Deputy Program Director ILEA Bangkok) welcomed 100 Alumni from across Indonesia, including the Indonesian National Police (INP), Presidential Security Force of Indonesia (PASPAMPRES), Attorney General’s Office (AGO), Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN), Immigration, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MOEF), National Narcotics Board (BNN), Indonesian Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DGCE).  As well as representatives from U.S. federal agencies and the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta including the Regional Security Office, International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP), and the Legal Attaché (LEGAT).

Director Cunney highlighted the importance of the continued cooperation between law enforcement and U.S. government agencies in Southeast Asia.  He also expressed his appreciation to the Royal Thai Government for allowing the Royal Thai Police (RTP) to be the U.S. government’s partner for ILEA in Thailand.  Furthermore, Director Cunney provided a brief overview of the recent changes to the training courses and renovations to the facilities at ILEA Bangkok and the Law Enforcement Tactical Training Center (LETTC) in Cha-am, followed by two short videos of the renovations.  Moreover, Director Cunney thanked the Indonesian Government and the U.S. federal agencies in Jakarta for being great partners in selecting qualified participants to join the ILEA Bangkok training courses.  Lastly, the ILEA Alumni Coordinator provided Alumni with information about the ILEA Global Network (IGN) and emphasized the importance of maintaining their contact information and submitting their success stories. 

    

During the event, attendees enjoyed a delicious meal and engaged in meaningful conversation and liaison.  The event concluded with Alumni, and representatives from ILEA Bangkok and U.S. federal agencies participating in a performance of a local dance known as the Poco Poco Dance

 Currently, ILEA Bangkok has more than 2,600 Indonesian Alumni working in a wide range of local law enforcement agencies.  ILEA Bangkok is proud of the continuous friendship they share with Indonesian Alumni and wishes them success in their careers and continued future cooperation.
