On September 12-23, 2022, ILEA Bangkok in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) held the Narcotics Investigations: Session 7 training. This two-week course focused on the basic knowledge and skills required for a law enforcement officer to identify drug traffickers and initiate and develop an investigation. The training was specially designed for investigators who were newly assigned to drug units. Core topics included drug identification, case initiation and development, surveillance, confidential source handling, interviewing and interrogation, report writing, and operational planning. Furthermore, the course also provided basic undercover, basic asset identification, clandestine laboratory safety overview, emergency first aid, handcuffing techniques, officer safety and survival, raid planning exercises and tactical training. There were 30 law enforcement officers from six subscribing counties participated in the training course.
