Law enforcement officers from Indonesia, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, and Thailand completed a two-week Narcotics Investigations Course: Session 9 organized by the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) Bangkok and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) from March 18-29, 2024. The training, took place in Bangkok on the first week and in Cha-Am on the second week, equipped 27 participants with essential skills for identifying drug traffickers and initiating investigations.
Core topics covered included drug identification, case initiation and development, surveillance techniques, confidential source handling, interviewing and interrogation methods, report writing, and operational planning. Elective sessions included basic undercover operations, asset identification, clandestine laboratory safety, first aid, handcuffing techniques, officer safety and survival, and tactical raid planning exercises.
Through interactive sessions and simulations, participants exchanged best practices and enhanced collaboration in combating drug-related crimes, marking a significant step forward in regional law enforcement efforts against illicit drug activities.
