From August 21 to 25, 2023, a total of 37 officials attended a one-week Protective Detail Briefing Course (PDB) at the Law Enforcement Tactical Training Center (LETTC) in Cha-Am, Thailand. The training was a collaboration between the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) Bangkok and the U.S. Secret Service (USSS).
The course was designed to introduce participants to basic protective procedures and techniques used to provide protection for dignitaries and VIPs of varying levels. It also covered specific areas such as protective emergency medicine, protective motorcades, protective site advance teams, protective shift formations, explosives, and incendiaries.
The training was delivered by a team of experienced instructors from the USSS and ILEA Bangkok. The course included a mix of classroom instruction, practical exercises, and field training. The participants of the PDB came from a variety of law enforcement agencies. The training provided them with the knowledge and skills they need to effectively protect dignitaries and VIPs in their countries.
