The International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) Bangkok, in collaboration with the Environment and Natural Resources Division (ENRD), has successfully organized the Prosecuting Environmental Crime Course: Session 8, aimed at bolstering the fight against environmental crimes in the region. The intensive course took place from November 6 to 10, 2023, and brought together 37 dedicated justice officials responsible for enforcing environmental laws from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The primary objective of this course was to equip participants with the necessary tools, knowledge, and skills to promote environmental protection and deter environmental crimes at both regional and global levels. In addition, the event served as a platform for encouraging networking and capacity building among the participating countries, fostering cooperation and coordination in addressing environmental challenges.
Over the course of five days, participants engaged in a wide range of topics and activities designed to enhance their understanding of environmental law enforcement. Key areas covered included investigation and evidence gathering, international cooperation in tackling environmental crimes, etc. Practical exercises and case studies were integrated into the curriculum, providing participants with hands-on experience and the opportunity to discuss region-specific challenges and solutions.
