Pacific Island Countries Inclusion in ILEA Program Event

On May 27, 2024, the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) Bangkok proudly hosted a prestigious event celebrating the inclusion of Pacific Island countries into its esteemed training program. The guests of honor, Robert F. Godec, U.S. Ambassador to Thailand, and Assistant Commissioner General Phakphumphiphat Sujjapan of the Royal Thai Police delivered the keynote speeches that welcomed the Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu into the ILEA program, highlighting the importance of this collaboration in combating transnational crime.

Additionally, the ILEA Executives, Efren Buenrostro Jr., Police Major General Punvipa Rohitopakara, Police Colonel Kittipon Kaewumporn,  Kimberly K. Jones, and Kyle Rego welcomed 110 participants from the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP), senior law enforcement professionals from the Pacific Islands and U.S. law enforcement agencies to the Academy.

 This landmark occasion not only celebrated the inclusion of the Pacific Island countries into the ILEA program but also reaffirmed the commitment of the U.S.-Thai-Pacific Islands partnership to foster a safer and more secure environment through collaboration and mutual support across the region and in the Pacific to enhance their capabilities in combating various forms of transnational crime globally.
