On December 12-16, 2022, ILEA Bangkok and the United States Secret Service (USSS) hosted the Protection Medicine Course: Session 1 in Bangkok, Thailand. There were 27 protection officers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand that participated in this one-week course. In the first half of the course, participants learned how to assess a medical patient and how to recognize signs and symptoms of a heart attack and stroke. Participant’s received training on how to treat common medical illnesses. The latter half of the course focused on common traumatic injuries such as fractures and burns. Additionally, participants were given the opportunity to assess and provide treatment strategies to manage these types of injuries.
