From July 15 to 19, 2024, the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) Bangkok and the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) jointly organized a Protective Security Operations (PSO) course at the Law Enforcement Tactical Center in Cha-Am. The purpose of this five-day course was to introduce 36 law enforcement personnel from Brunei, malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam to the concepts of protective security and DS protective security operations. The course encompassed a combination of classroom presentations and practical exercises.
During the course, participants were exposed to various techniques employed by DS Special Agents to safeguard dignitaries. These techniques included advance planning, walking formations, and motorcade operations. Participants were taught how to identify and establish a Protective Security Detail, and they actively engaged in practical exercises to develop their skills in forming Protective Security Formations for different scenarios such as advances, arrivals, and departures.
