A total of 35 law enforcement officers from six countries participated in Session 5 of the Small Arms Trafficking course, which was conducted by ILEA Bangkok and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF) from February 27 to March 23, 2023.h
The course's primary focus was on firearms trafficking and covered areas such as firearm identification, tracing, and the identification of homemade and counterfeit firearms. The course also included training on 3D printing of firearms, social media exploitation, firearm internet investigation techniques, operational security, operational planning, interview techniques, and deception detection. The course was delivered through lectures by ATF officials and regional subject matter experts, as well as practical exercises to enhance the participants' investigative skills.
Upon completion of the course, participants were able to demonstrate advanced investigative techniques for detecting and arresting firearms traffickers and those involved in violent crimes using firearms.
