From October 7 to 11, 2024, ILEA Bangkok, in partnership with OPDAT (Office of Prosecutorial Development, Assistance, and Training) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), conducted the third session of the Trafficking in Persons training program. This specialized course was designed to enhance the capacity of law enforcement officials tasked with monitoring and combating human trafficking.
The training provided participants with up-to-date information on the latest policy guidelines and legislative developments related to trafficking in persons. It also focused on key techniques for victim identification and highlighted best practices for working with victims in a trauma-informed manner. Additionally, participants were trained on how to gather evidence effectively to secure convictions against traffickers, ensuring justice for victims.
A total of 44 law enforcement officers from nine participating countries attended the course. The program emphasized not only legal and investigative strategies but also fostered cross-border collaboration and cooperation, which are essential for tackling the global issue of human trafficking.
