3rd Time is a Charm: ILEA Alumni Networking Event in Chiang Mai on May 12, 2022

ILEA Bangkok is back with its 3rd Alumni Networking Event. Earlier this year, we had 2 Alumni events, the first was in Phuket, and the second was in Cha-Am, Thailand. Both went well and our attendees went home with smiles on their faces knowing a bit more about ILEA, US Law Enforcement agencies, and how to leverage the ILEA alumni network.

This time, ILEA Bangkok hosted an Alumni Networking Event in the northern part of Thailand, at the Le Meridian Hotel, Chiang Mai on the evening of May 12, 2022. There were 75 attendees from the Royal Thai Police such as Border Patrol Police, Immigration, Forensic Police, Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), Special Branch Bureau (SBB), Narcotics Suppression Board (NSB) and Provincial Police, together with various related agencies from Thai Customs, Department of National Park, Wildlife and Plants Conservation (DNP), Office of Attorney General (OAG), Office of Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), and Office of Public Sector Anti-corruption Commission (PACC). U.S. Agencies namely U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and United States Secret Service (USSS) also joined the event.

The 3rd Alumni Networking Event started with ILEA Executive Director, Pol.Maj.Gen. Kasemsunti Yoosooksomboon (Kim) making an opening speech. He emphasized the close connection that Thai and U.S. government have always shared. Next ILEA Program Director Andrew Cunney provided opening remarks. He focused on collaboration between ILEA and many law enforcement agencies in Thailand and the US agencies in attendance. He also asked our alumni and guests to liaise  with others as well as to use the evening to network with the variety of agencies in attendance. Intelligence Research Specialist Michael Upshaw gave a DEA orientation briefing to the attendees. Finally, the ILEA-Bangkok Alumni Coordinator introduced the Alumni Portal, instruction on how to use it and encouraged our Alumni to update their profiles as well as provided recent success stories.

Guests and Alumni enjoyed themselves with a light dinner along with the company  of new friends brought together through ILEA connections. The event was a success and brought many participants together who might not have otherwise met. ILEA-Bangkok is proud to strengthen the ties between Thai and the U.S. law enforcement agencies as well as to serve as a place where our alumni can network with others.
