Small Arms Trafficking course

ILEA Bangkok and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF) held a virtual Small Arms Trafficking course on June 21-23, 2022.  There were 44 participants from 7 countries attending in this course. 

The course focused on areas related to firearms trafficking, including identification, tracing, and identifying homemade and counterfeit firearms.  Additionally, the course highlighted 3D printing of firearms, social media exploitation, firearm internet investigation techniques, operational security & operational planning and interview and deception detection techniques.  Instructional methods included lectures from the ATF and from regional subject matter experts and provided relevant practical exercises to further enhance participant’s investigative skills.

 At the end of the course, participants were able to successfully articulate and demonstrate enhanced investigative techniques for the detection and apprehension of firearms traffickers and those using firearms in violent crimes.
