The Joint DSS & USSS Major Events Security Coordination Course

ILEA Bangkok, in collaboration with Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) and U.S. Secret Service (USSS), introduced the first Major Events Security Coordination training, February 24-28, 2020.

ILEA Bangkok was grateful and honored to have Diplomatic Security Service Deputy Assistant Secretary Wendy A. Bashnan and DS Supervisory Special Agent (ret.) Peter Ford share their experiences as former Olympic Security Coordinators, and Ms. Mami Ueno (First Secretary) and Mr. Tetsuro Higuchi from the Embassy of Japan present on customs and immigration screening procedures.  

The training, with 48 participants from eight subscribing countries, was designed for middle to senior-level law enforcement personnel to construct and develop strategies, as well as implement those plans for upcoming large events. The topics in the course covered fundamentals of planning, crowd-flow dynamics, evacuation, and other necessary considerations used in preparing for major events.
