ILEA and DOE Kicked Off the Virtual Radiological and Nuclear Smuggling and Detection Course

This year, ILEA Bangkok and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) conducted the Radiological and Nuclear Smuggling and Detection course (Virtual) on November 9-11, 2021 with 29 delegates from 8 ILEA subscribing countries.

The virtual Radiological and Nuclear Smuggling and Detection course by DOE mainly aims to provide the participants awareness of threats of radiological and nuclear terrorism and discuss plausible approaches for law enforcers to combat these threats through radiological and nuclear detection.

During 3 days of the training, the participants will comprehend technologies and procedures for detecting radiological and nuclear substances as well as nuclear forensics and importance to combat and counter nuclear smuggling. The course was also equipped with real case studies and experience sharing of best practices and lesson learned by DOE experts.
