ILEA Bangkok, in coordination with United States Forest Service (USFS), hosted the first virtual Natural Resource Crime Investigations Course, March 22-April 1, 2022, with 36 participants who are law enforcement officers and criminal investigators whose responsibilities include the enforcement and investigation of natural resource crimes from 7 ILEA subscribing countries.
This virtual training was intended to build and strengthen both regional and individual law enforcement officer/criminal investigator capacity to enforce laws related to natural resource crimes occurring on public lands. The course focused on building technical skills, such as: pre-incident interagency collaboration; detection of natural resource crimes using traditional, collaborative, and technologically advanced methodologies; crime scene assessment, preservation, and processing; investigative case initiation and management; investigative techniques (including the use of technical investigative equipment) and strategies (including the use of joint investigative teams); and documentation including strategies for superior report writing and preparation for presenting to those responsible for prosecution.
