Arson Investigative Techniques Program

On February 10, 2023, ILEA Bangkok and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) concluded the two-week Arson Investigative Techniques Program.

The training, with 30 officers from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand, provided hands-on exercises for the investigators to learn the step-by-step systematic method of “layer checking” in digging out a fire scene to determine the origin and cause and then process the fire scene reconstruction.

Guided by the ATF instructors through fire scenarios, the participants went through the specifically-designed practical exercises where they followed the systematic approach to the fire scene analysis to articulate the systematic approach used during the fire scene examination.
