Arson Investigative Techniques Program: Session 13 (January 29 - February 9, 2024)

On February 9, 2024, ILEA Bangkok and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) concluded the two-week Arson Investigative Techniques Program.

The training, with 39 officers from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Timor-Leste, provided hands-on exercises for the investigators to learn the step-by-step systematic method of “layer checking” in digging out a fire scene to determine the origin and cause and then process the fire scene reconstruction.

Guided by the ATF instructors through fire scenarios, the participants went through the specifically-designed practical exercises where they followed the systematic approach to the fire scene analysis to articulate the systematic approach used during the fire scene examination.
