Fisheries Enforcement and Prosecution: Session 1 (September 26-30, 2022)

On September 30, 2022, ILEA Bangkok together with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) concluded the five-day training course on Fisheries Enforcement and Prosecution: Session 1.  The main objective of the course was to provide regional government fisheries/marine legal and policy advisors and enforcement personnel with a general foundation and understanding of the legal tools available to them to effectively monitor, enforce and successfully prosecute fisheries violations.  The training focused on two areas: 1) legal and policy issues and 2) enforcement and investigative techniques and procedures, including ship bridge and instrument training as well as import and landing inspections from fishing vessels, reefers, and container vessels. There were 25 participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines,Thailand, and Timor-Leste participated in the course.
