Investigating Criminal Use of Cryptocurrencies : Session 4

The International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) Bangkok and the United States Secret Service (USSS) successfully conducted the Investigating Criminal Use of Cryptocurrencies: Session 4 training course from June 5-16, 2023. A total of 47 participants from 10 member countries attended the course, which aimed to provide a foundation of knowledge on the technology, software, and procedures involved in investigating the criminal use of cryptocurrency.

Participants learned about the workings of different cryptocurrencies, how to identify them in investigations, and received technical instruction on tracing techniques and investigative tools. The course also focused on current and emerging cryptocurrencies, as well as the tactics employed by criminals to avoid detection. Participants gained insights into cryptocurrency wallet transfers, inventory methods, and the use of seizures in investigations.
